Colorful Background Shadows

A gridded 22" beauty dish lights Katherine both in profile and as a frontal portrait.
The shadow pattern on the background is a gelled bare bulb flash head whose light passes through a four foot by four foot piece of black foam core cut with leaf shapes. This panel is known as a cucoloris or cookie. Moving the flash closer to the cookie makes the shadow edges softer. Pulling it away makes them more distinct.
