Lighting Diagram Checkpoint One
My camera was positioned 2 feet away from the subject. The light (set to 4.0), Beauty Dish with grid, and black panel were positioned 1 foot away from the backdrop. My camera settings were f/16, 1/125, ISO 12800. The lighting style I used was split lighting. I did this by placing a light with a beauty dish/grid at a 90-degree angle to the right of my subject and a black panel placed to the side of my light. This created a sharp shadow across half of my subject's face. I ran into challenges when attempting to get the correct settings on both my light and camera. At first, the photos were overexposed and the lighting was very harsh but through troubleshooting, I was able to set my camera correctly to capture the photograph I was attempting to create. I think the photo came out well. I like how the colors stand out on the lit side of the subject and how the shadow perfectly splits down the middle, covering the rest of her body. I think I can improve by having a better understanding of my camera settings in collaboration with the light's settings, it took me a while in the beginning to have photos that were not too dark or too bright.
