You know what to do.
CPA Portrait set up – 2023, Laura Pelech & Tanner Britton
Backdrop Colors:
White, Black, or Cream/off white
KEY Light:
800 power Alienbee Strobe shooting vertically into a large, diffused, umbrella reflector. Reflector should be placed above and slightly in front of subject. Soft light should illuminate the front of the subject evenly.
FILL Light:
400 power Alienbee firing into diffused umbrella reflector placed 45 degrees to frame right. (left of subject) Additional soft light giving shape to the face and adding additional brightness to the face. Also adds catchlight to subject’s eyes.
Reflectors:
Two white bounce boards set up on lightstands vertically on frame left. (right of subject) Should reflect light from both KEY and FILL lights. Further fills out shadows on subject to give better gradated tones across subject’s right side. (Shaded side relative to FILL)
Optional (keep on hand):
White circular reflector to add bounced light from beneath the subject.
Black Panel for negative fill, usually would be used on the same side as the FILL light, in this case frame right to control ambient bounced light.
