CPA Seal Portraits

Please use in RM 114 for portraits photographed in front of the large CPA Seal. The room lights should be turned OFF. This room is typically LOW LIGHT.

BACKGROUND
Large silver and blue CPA seal. Only a portion of the seal needs to be in the background. Seal should be mildly in focus, recommended f-stop no lower than f/2.5. The environment will typically be LOW LIGHT.

SUBJECT:
Create space between the background and subject. Make sure there is no shadow from the subject on the seal or wall behind them. Have them turn slightly towards the window light. (>35 degrees)

CAMERA:
50mm+ lens (telephoto). Camera should be placed on a tripod slightly lower than eye level of subject. Best results will be on a tripod due to low light in rm114. White Balance can be set to AWB.

KEY:
Natural Window light. Begin with the shades on the windows fully drawn to maximize light. If too bright, lower shades before turning down LED lights.

FILL:
Large LED panel set up at a 45 degree angle to subject on frame left (right side of subject, same direction as windows). LED should be directed into a White Circular Reflector that faces the subject. Use this soft bounced light to enhance the natural light coming from the large windows. Set LED temperature to match light of the day. Cooler in the morning, warmer in the afternoon.

REFLECTORS:
The FILL light reflector should be set up to reflect light from the Large LED Panel on to the subject, enhancing the natural window light.

The second reflector should be placed opposite the FILL light to bounce light from the KEY and FILL back onto the subject. This will lift the overall brightness of the subject’s face and further add light to the shaded half of the subject.

OPTIONAL:
Keep a black panel on-hand to flag out unwanted light/reflections or to use as negative fill. (Usually frame left in this set up)
