The second picture of my 52 week project is a bit easier to explain, but actually much harder to do.

I made a small rig that holds the wine glass at a 45 degree angle, placed it in front of a white translucent (paper) background, placed a flash with a snoot behind the backdrop and set a large bucket under the glass. The bucket was filled with water plus I added some red food coloring, to bring some more life into the photo.

The hard part comes when you try to pour the water into the glass while trying to press the shutter at the right moment. In this shot I accidentally poured some of the water beside the glass, that’s why the ‘explosion’ happened, but I think it looks cool.

Warning! This type of photography will make a huge mess! Your whole studio will be covered in colored water and you will probably have some on yourself too!
