This shoot was done by Luba V Nel (I was just the Lighting Designer)

We used a single Profoto ProHead on a Pro7a generator with the Profoto Giant XL Silver umbrella. This we placed on a boom at a 45-degree to the subject (left) as high as we could get the boom to go and with the head’s focus as wide as we could make it without spill. The focus of the umbrella was directed onto the model. This means that by moving her forwards and backwards we could change the look on her face, and the wide edges of the umbrella actually gave us fill and main.

Powering the lights up would override the natural light fill (we had a 2m scrim in direct sunlight in the window, set left, under the umbrella) and powering the lights down would give us a harder shadow from the scrim light
