Hernan's Photo Walk - lighting test, direct sun

Objective: Testing the new “Nissin Air System” (NAS) consisting of the newly released Nissin Di700a Flashgun (speedlights) accompanied with the Air 10s Commander Hybrid TTL trigger for use on an upcoming location lecture / shoot.

Scenario 1 – Direct Sun
Using the Sun (metered at f/16 @ 1/125, ISO 125 at approximately 1:00pm) as a hair light. Using the Nissin Air 10s Commander w/Nissin Di700a with a 20" Westcott Rapid Box Modifier (camera left) as fill.

Positioned the light stand to camera left and elevated and angled slightly above subjects head and tilted downward at approximately 45 degrees.
Set to full power on the Nissin Di700a which give us f/8.0 at approximately 6 feet. To achieve the desired results the light stand was then moved closer and positioned approximately 3’ from the subject to achieve a maximum of f/8.7 when metered.
Shot with:
Canon Ds mark IV, Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 DiVC USD at 50mm, 5100k, ISO: 125, 1/250, f/11.0

Scenario 2 – Direct Sun using a Neutral Density Filter
Same set up as above using the same Canon Ds mark IV body, w/Tamron SP 85mm f/1.8 DiVC USD with a Light Craft Rapid Variable ND Filter set to -3 stops, 5100k, ISO: 125, 1/250, f/4.0
